The Stone Forest or Shilin (Chinese: 石林; pinyin: Shílín) is a notable set of limestone formations about 500 km2 located in Shilin Yi Autonomous County, Yunnan Province, People's Republic of China, near Shilin approximately 90 km from the provincial capital Kunming.

The tall rocks seem to arise from the ground in a manner somewhat reminiscent of stalagmites, or with many looking like petrified trees, thereby creating the illusion of a forest made of stone. Since 2007, two parts of the site, the Naigu Stone Forest (乃古石林) and Suogeyi Village (所各邑村), have been UNESCO World Heritage Sites as part of the South China Karst.The site is classified as a AAAAA-class tourist site.

Just as its name suggests, the park resembles a large-scale gray forest composed of a mass of stone pillars in various shapes which densely tower in this area. With the interpretation of your knowledgeable tour guide, you would discover many funny spots as well as vivid images of animals, plants and etc. Among all the sights of the Stone Forest, you shall not miss the highlights including the Sword Blade Pond (Jianfeng Pond), the Peaks Pavilion (Wanfeng Pavilion) and Ashima.

Near the Stone Forest nestle several minorities, such as Naxi people and Yi people. While enjoying the splendor of the natural views, you will also get a chance to witness the singing and dancing performance by Yi people with their unique costume.
